Massage technique that stimulates lymphatic circulation, lymphatic drainage has many benefits.
Let’s take a closer look at what lymphatic drainage is, why you should do it and all its benefits.
What is a lymphatic drainage?
Lymphatic drainage is a tonic and deep massage technique that aims to stimulate the circulation of lymph and thus to evacuate “toxin” and “waste”.
What is lymph :
Lymph is a whitish or yellowish liquid carried by the lymphatic system. Lymph plays an indispensable role in the defense of the body. Its primary function is to clean.
What is the lymphatic system :
The lymphatic system consists of both a network of lymphatic vessels, which originate in the various tissues of the body with lymph nodes called ganglia. It is also composed of organs such as the spleen, thymus and tonsils.
Why do a lymphatic drainage?
Lymphatic drainage allows you to slim down your figure, to have light legs and a better blood and lymphatic circulation.
A lymphatic drainage session lasts between 1h and 1h30.
Disposable undergarments are provided to avoid staining yours with oil.
The patient lies on his back, with a cushion under his head and a towel. The practitioner “listens” in order to adapt to the client’s breathing rhythm. Light cat paws are then performed to pump the nodes in a specific order:
- deltopectoral nodes
- mammary nodes
- Ulnar fossa (elbows)
- iliac nodes
- inguinal nodes
- popliteal fossa
- calcaneal tendons (behind the malleolus)
The practitioner raises the sheet according to the part of the body to be massaged.
The massage starts with the left leg by pumping the inguinal ganglion. An oil is then applied so the maneuvers of the lymphatic drainage massage are tonic and the pressure is firm. These movements are performed 2 to 3 times and then the practitioner moves to the right leg.
It is important to always pump the lymph nodes before massaging another part of the body.
Next are done the belly, arms and face. The client turns over on the stomach to move on to the back, starting with the legs, feet and ending with a relaxing back method to give way to harmonization.
